Aproveché el feriado de ayer para viajar en el tiempo a octubre de 1987 y dibujar este retrato de mi tío Kike. Ahora entiendo de dónde viene la manía de dibujar narices grandes. Gracias Kike por darme un aventón en tu máquina de tiempo.
I did some time travel, all the way back to 1987, to draw this portrait of my uncle, Kike. I think now I understand where the big noses that keep showing up on my drawings come from. Thanks Kike for giving me a ride in your time machine.

Here's something I made a couple of weeks ago. I like to call the pointy guy Mr. T (you know, because he's a triangle, surrounded by triangles, on a t-shirt, and he's saying: "Tadá!"). Unfortunately, the Rub-A-Dub Sharpie I drew this with is starting to fade after just a couple of washes.
So if any of you know a better pen for painting on fabrics, tell me about it in the comments. The best answer wins a custom t-shirt! Well, you'll have to send me the t-shirt but I will send it back to you with a silly picture on it! Interested? Okay, go!

Esta es una camiseta que pinté hace unas semanas. Al protagonista de esta aventura triangular lo bauticé con el nombre Mr. T (original ¿no?). Lo malo es que la tinta del Sharpie que usé está empezando a perder su brillo después de tan sólo un par de lavadas.

Here's a fun little book I made about the everlasting battle between good and evil. Clearly the red team are the bad guys, since they have a couple of monsters and supernatural beings on their side, while the Yellow characters are all presumably human.
So, whose side are you on?
Oh, and by the way, I used Keri Smith's fantastic idea to make the book.

Les comparto un divertido mini libro que hice. Digamos que trata de la perpetua batalla entre el bien y el mal. Está claro que los malos son los Rojos porque tienen monstruos y criaturas sobrenaturales, mientras los Amarillos son todos, hasta dónde podemos ver, humanos.
Así que, ¿de qué lado están ustedes?
Por cierto, tomé esta genial idea de Keri Smith como base para construir el lilbro.
• My dad's band, Rocks, opened for Carlos Santana's concert last Tuesday. Santana is not really my cup of tea musically, but it was nice seeing my old man up on stage, reunited with his old band mates once again.
• Been listening to Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Paviliona lot. Wow, what an amazing album! Those guys have managed to create a very beautiful, catchy, original and unique sounding record.

• I'm trying to draw at least one thing every day, and I'm posting them here. Pretty ugly stuff but it's meant as an exercise. We'll see how that goes...
• I'm stuck with the Alphabet Flashcards. I think I'll just have to pick it up some other day, probably start over again.
• I just finished reading Paul Auster's New York Trilogy, great stuff. Currently going through the last pages of Joseph Heller's Catch 22 (absurd and hysterically funny, yet serious as hell).
• Been drawing lots of triangles. It's fun and addictive!
• I have been meaning to post more stuff in this blog but I've been too busy working. And listening to great music. New illustrations coming soon.

• El grupo de mi papá, Rocks, abrió el concierto de Carlos Santana's el martes pasado. Santana no es mi estilo musicalmente, pero fue agradable ver a mi papá en el escenario, reunido con sus compañeros de banda nuevamente.
• He estado escuchando obsesivamente el disco Merriweather Post Pavilion de Animal Collective. ¡Qué album tan genial! Tiene un sonido increíble, pegajoso y realmente original.

A couple of months ago I was invited by Duff to be part of the first issue of Zum, a newly launched Guatemalan fanzine, published by La U.R.B.E. Collective.
Hace unos meses Duff me invitó a participar en la primera edición de Zum, un fanzine guatemalteco recién lanzado por La U.R.B.E. Collective.
Zum No.1, Monkey Season, consisted of several two-sided postcards packed in a nicely designed cardboard box. Oh, and a neat little monkey sticker that will probably end up on my guitar's case.
EL Zum No.1, Temporada Mono, consistió de una serie de postales con una ilustración en una cara y un texto en la otra. Todo empacado en una caja de cartón bien diseñada. Ah, y una excelente calcomanía del monito oficial que probablemente terminará pegada en el estuche de mi guitarra.
Zum will be published every three or four months, according to the creators, and each issue will be a different format so who knows what they will come up with next.
